White Black SEO - Black Hat SEO

Black Hat SEO is the wrong way to optimize your website and will get you in “jail” meaning you won’t get indexed and probably banned from search engines and will never appear in any pages of search engines results.

Stop With Black Hat Techniques
The Black Hat SEO is the worst way to optimize your website and will bring you to get banned from search engines and to never appear in any pages of search results. Even here the list is very long but I will give you the most important ones and take them very seriously because using black hat techniques for SEO will get you in the banned list of all search engines.

These are the top “no-no’s” of SEO:
1.        Hidden Text / Cloaking
2.        Meta Tags Spamming.
3.        Gateway Pages
4.        Link Farming

Hidden Text / Cloaking:

Hidden text, is the content that is only visible to search engines such as comment tags, noscript tags, noframes tags, etc. A comment tag is made for web designers to put comments about what each coding section does. A comment tag should contain something looking like this: <!– Start of home page –>, with this, the web designer knows that his home page coding starts there.

Black Hat SEO - The Wrong Way

Now some people got the funny idea that if instead of writing a comment, they actually wrote their keywords, the search engine would read the keywords and index them in a high rank. This is absolutely wrong, in fact doing this won’t get you indexed at all, it will get you banned from search engines indexing pages. It’s the same for all of the other hidden text tags.

Now let’s talk about cloaking. Cloaking is a way of hiding a text behind another one by putting it the same color as the background color, therefore unseen by the human eye but readable by a search engine. This is possibly the worst thing you can do to your website, this is a killer. You will, without a doubt, end up in the banned lists of the search engines. Moral is, don’t try to trick search engines; they’re a lot smarter than you
think.

Meta Keywords & Description Tag:

The keyword tag as I already stated in previous lessons has very little to no weight on your ranking. The keyword tag is used to tell search engines what the content of your page contains. These keywords should be a short list of everything that is contained in your webpage. Even though they have no weight, it is recommended not to spam that tag because search engines might consider it spamming.

Black Hat SEO

The description tag is pretty similar to the keyword tag. The difference is that instead of using keywords, you will use short sentences (I’d say 3 sentences at max or 160 characters) to describe the content of the page. Keep in mind that this is the first thing a searcher will read when he performs a search. So be as precise, on topic, and appealing to the searchers eye. Also, like the keyword tag, this has very little weight in the ranking factor but once more, if you spam your meta description tag, search engines might be able to realize your just spamming your description.

Gateway Pages:

Gateway pages, also known as doorway pages, is the automatic redirection of a webpage that is highly optimized for 2 -3 keywords to a landing page. This used to work and search engines couldn’t detect it. What happened is people would optimize keywords that had absolutely no relevancy with their actual website and people would search for something and end up on a webpage completely different of what they searched for.

Search engines eventually caught on to this and made it a black hat technique for SEO. I know a lot of SEO firms tell you that doorway pages are good and so on but it is completely wrong. Another common term used for this is called “301 redirect”. Two things could happen if you use this technique: the search engine will completely ignore your page, the search engine will flag your website to eventually be banned from search engines results. Both ways you won’t get indexed, so just avoid it at all costs.

Link Farming:
Link farms are websites that offer you to post a link with any title or keyword that you wish. These sites, also known as Free-For-All’s (FFA) are really not good to be seen in. I’m sure we’ve all heard the saying “you are what your friends are”. Well this is the perfect saying for link farming. You are a good person (your website), but most of your friends are crooks (link farms or FFA), to any strangers eyes (search engines) you will be considered a crook as well. Avoid these link farming websites at all costs.
Like I said earlier, links are like votes so get the most positive votes on your side.
