I will now share with you a brief overview of SEO link building. It is true that keywords, meta tags, body content, along with everything else is very important. But all those put together represent about 20% of your optimization process, the other 80% relies entirely on your inbound links. The more people link to you the more importance your website has to the eyes of the search engines. But there are some exceptions to that.
Submitting To Web Directories:
This can get you several hundreds of links. But watch out, not all directories are approved by search engines. If you submit your site on automated directories, search engines see that as spam and won’t pay much attention to those links.
Automated directories, like the name states, do everything automatically, therefore nobody reviews them so people can post anything they want with no relevancy to a search query. Try looking for trusted directories that have a good web rank and that get reviewed by human beings. Don’t forget to add keywords to those links.
A good directory that I would recommend is business.com or Yahoo’s directory.
Blogging:
Another solid way to get links is using blogs. Be active and natural in blogs, answer questions, ask questions, be as present as possible and you’ll probably be awarded a back link to your webpage. Find blogs that are relevant to what you sell, promote, or relevant to your website.
Don’t enter a blog with the main idea of getting a link because you won’t get one. You have to be natural or at least act like it.
Don’t spam in blogs because you will get banned from them and then your chances to get links are gone. Remember to always find blogs that surround your category.
Press Releases:
If you’re launching a new website, a press release is very good because it will be sent to many PRs who will distribute it to online news websites. This can grant you links from several news website which will get you weight.
So before doing a press release, make sure that everything is up and running on your web pages and that you have some content with keywords for the spider to crawl.
Social Websites:
Believe it or not, facebook and twitter do count as links. Even if they don’t have much weight they still help. You want to put all the chances on your side.
I recommend using keywords as username or avatar when you sign up to social websites. Don’t forget to put a link to your web page also containing keywords. This can come in handy if you promote your website through those social networks.
