Backlinks & Link Building for Website

What are back links and link building? Why should you familiarize yourself with them? If you are a website owner and want your website to be found by the search engines and your customers, then back links should be a priority. In layman's terms they are considered to be an "internet vote". When another website links to your website, it means that they are voting or recommending your website content.

Your main focus should be on getting as many of these "votes" as you can. This is because the search engines will rank your website in terms of popularity and usefulness based upon the number of back links that point to it. The higher your website is ranked, the more traffic you will see, which can possibly convert into more sales.

The name of the game is to get as many visitors as you can. To this end, you have to put together a link building strategy that can get as many links pointing to your website as possible. The following are just a few of the actions that can be taken to gain more back links for your website.

Content
In order for search engines to crawl your site, there has to be content for them to see. Supply quality content that will appeal to your customers. If you have done the proper keyword research and have written articles that are filled with highly focused keywords for your targeted niche, then you should not have any problems getting the search engines to crawl your site.

Now that you have these keyword enriched articles, how do you use them to as a part of your link building strategy? There are a few things that you do with them, but for the purpose of this article, we will focus on one. Submit your keyword enriched content to multiple article directories. Make sure that each submitted article has an anchor text back link pointing to your website. Article directories usually have large readerships that frequent the site on a daily basis. This will provide both back links and exposure for your website.
Forum and Comment Posting

Other tactics that can be used during your link building strategy are comment and forum posting. This involves placing a link back to your website by commenting on other people's blogs or leaving your website link in the signature of your forum comments. By placing these links on other websites, it makes it seem like those sites are giving you those internet votes that are important for getting a good ranking, loads of traffic and of course, more conversions.
All in all, a simple link building strategy will do wonders for getting highly focused back links for your website. If good quality articles, comment posting and forum posting are all a part of this strategy, your website's rank will eventually begin to increase.
